Environmental contractors who care about the planet

The Treehuggers skilled and experienced team is led by Simeon Day.

Simeon has over 25 years experience of working in the countryside  management industry for local authorities, government agencies and running his own businesses. He has a B.A (Honours) degree in Ecology and a Masters degree in Environmental Conservation. His roles have taken him from tree surgery in Australia to installing large forest school facilities in the South West, via managing Nature Reserves and leading practical training for charities across the UK. His projects have won awards for their contribution to conservation and wildlife and he developed an ethical eco-tourism business into one of the top 10 sustainable businesses in the North Devon Biosphere Reserve whilst achieving Gold status in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

"Simeon has established a reputation for his range of sustainable living skills courses on charcoal making, clay oven building, cider making and green woodworking where his engaging manner, sense of fun and enthusiasm are inspirational, giving participants the knowledge and confidence to have a go at home."

Planet friendly working

We are passionate about caring for nature and wildlife and work hard to operate as sustainably as we can which includes using renewable energy in our HQ and sustainable resources in our work; reducing consumption and minimising waste; recycling, reusing and upcycling; reducing our carbon footprint; and carrying out our work in a way that is as sensitive as possible to wildlife and nature.

We think it is important to give something back to the planet and its communities.

In 2015, following the devastaing earthquakes in Nepal, some of the Treehuggers team helped fundraise and organise an expedition to a remote village in the Himalayan foothills to help a community rebuild their lives. We are now trying to help a villager develop a project to plant fruit trees that will benefit the whole community.

Simeon is Chair of Orchards Live, a charity working to save and replant traditional orchards and local apple varieties in Devon.
